Professional background

1976-1979: Started my career as an insurance broker with Wilson and Company and Bain Dawes. Both companies later bought by Aon.

1979-1997: Marsh Inc based on London as a reinsurance broker of North American insurance in the London market. 1993 Appointed CEO of Guy Carpenter London.

1997-2001: Various insurance appointments.

2003- 2018: Joint founder and chairman Casualty and General Insurance Company Europe Ltd based in Gibraltar writing UK liability insurance, surety and defects insurance in France, Spain and Italy. The company was sold in 20018 to private equity investors.

2007: Bought into European Brokers Alliance Ltd an insurance broker/ MGA dealing in Inherent defects insurance. Subsequently sold to Nexus Underwriting Ltd which in turn is being bought by Brown and Brown Inc.

2013-2022: Co-founded and chairman of Corin Underwriting Ltd an MGA underwriting liability insurance in UK and Ireland. Sold to management in 2022.

2001-2004: Investor and chairman of ISL Ltd which was bought out of Marsh Ltd by a group of statisticians and data-analysts. This company analysed insurance risk in the homeowners, commercial property and motor sector using risk mapping and other data sources to provide pricing models for insurers. ISL reached a high level of market penetration before selling to Experian PLC in 2004.

2008-2018: Co-Founded and chaired Business Insight Limited a start-up providing similar products as ISL again achieving a high level of market penetration. The company was sold to Verisk Analytics Inc.

I am now retired having recently stepped down as a non-executive director in my last venture.
